About this opportunity
The 2026 Huairou Science City AI for Science · OPC Innovation Challenge is guided by the Beijing Huairou Science City Administrative Committee and hosted by Beijing Huairou Science City Development Group Co., Ltd., with participation from the Beijing Embedded Systems Technology Industry Association and the Beijing Association for Interdisciplinary Science; the challenge lists were unveiled on September 11, 2026. Two main tracks: the 'open competition mechanism' track publishes 10 challenge lists drawn from real needs of research institutes and leading enterprises (e.g., laser health-monitoring agents, space-science dataset quality evaluation, self-driving laboratories), each worth at least CNY 100,000 and totaling over CNY 3,000,000, with an additional CNY 20,000 for selected-but-unadopted projects; the 48-hour hackathon covers five directions (embodied robotics, AIGC, AIP multi-agent interconnection and more) and takes place offline at Huairou Science City on November 15–16, 2026. The competition is entirely free — no registration fees — and all tracks run offline. Registration closes October 10 (challenge lists, tentative) and November 10 (hackathon) per the organizing committee. Outstanding projects may apply for up to CNY 500,000 in OPC funding.
